Every now and again, I create a ring with someone in mind. Granted, that someone is usually either fictional or historical. And such is the case with this ring.
This week I made a ring for Boudica, the Celtic queen who stood against the Romans armed with thunder. Though not a reveler in violence and war, I admire her fierceness. And the aesthetic of her is both terrifying and enchanting. The clanging of swords and a woman’s battle cry. Sharp edges and auburn plaits tossed back.
And from that aesthetic, this ring. A ring to imbue power. A double-pointed orange sunstone gemstone that glimmers amid a minimalist, but fierce design of polished silver. The thick, hand-sawn band is tapered, accentuating the shape of the stone. It sits at Size 7 on the mandrel, but since it is a wider band, it might be better suited to a Size 6.5.
