A surprise collection just for you! I have gotten lots of messages asking if the Darkling Sea Rings would return, and while I don’t plan to remake those for a while, I did want to make a handful of brand new kyanite pieces just for you.
“Once, for all the darkling sea,
You your voices raised how clearly,
Striking in when tempest sung;
Hoisting up the storm-sail cheerly,
Life is storm–let storm! you rung.”
– excerpt by Herman Melville
These teal blue kyanite gemstone drinks the light and holds it within. Looking into the stones is like looking up towards the light while underwater, dotted with crackling striations and dark inclusions like clusters of algae or leaves from nearby trees. Glistening facets refracting and throwing the light, like ripples on water.

(Fits slightly snug. But they are forgiving
as you go up in size. It also is very stable atop
the hand since it is tapered and the stone sits low.)
A ring for clutching rain-soaked helms and singing through tempests.
This ring is made from a natural, teal kyanite gemstone stone set in a straight bezel.
The gemstones have been set into a split double half-round ring shank.
The bands have been heavily textured to look similar to rippling waves on the sea, irregular and uniform at the same time.
The rings were given a high polish, shimmering and bright.

Price: $149
(Fits true to size, perhaps a little bit snug. Size as read on the mandrel.)
A ring for sailing through icy gales and storm-tossed seas.
This ring is made from a natural, teal kyanite gemstone stone set in a straight bezel.
Accenting the stone are two clusters of three silver pebbles, like beach stones smooth and shining from a recent wave.
A simple oval window is sawn from the back so when you hold it up to the light the sun can set the stone afire.
Like looking up towards the light while underwater, dotted with crackling striations and dark inclusions like clusters of algae or leaves from nearby trees.
The bands have been textured to look similar to rippling waves on the sea, irregular and uniform at the same time.
The rings were given a high polish so they would look as though they were dipped in water.
And in photographing these rings in full sunshine, I discovered that the light positively bounces off the bands.
Sunshine splays from the textured surface, speckling your fingers and clothes, just like light reflecting from the tops of waves.
Darkling Sea Rings
Sizes available: 6, 6.5, 7, 7.25, 8
Price $112
(Fits true to size.)
And of course, the ring design that began this collection. Simple and strong, like a woman of the ocean.
For this very small offering of Darkling Sea Rings, I wanted to choose stones that were different from the original iteration, which features oval gemstones.
These rings are made with irregular cut stones, slightly bigger than the original oval gemstones used.
The teal kyanite gemstones are set in straight bezels.
Accenting the stone are two little sterling silver pebbles, like beach stones smooth and shining from a recent wave.
As with the other rings, the bands have been textured to look similar to rippling waves on the sea and given a high polish to catch and throw the light.
And that’s everything!
A ring for exploring ocean coves still sparkling with sea ice.
A ring for the deep Atlantic, all saturated blues and shadows.
A ring for mermaids and wave-walkers, ocean explorers with hearts made of sea salt.
Do keep in mind that all the kyanites gemstones I use are natural and have an icy, crackly depth to them, which means that some of them have some surface fissures, pits, and crackles where the inner textures touch the surface.
