While I was working on this offering, I was experiencing a bout of insomnia. This happens to me every now and again. It will take hours to fall asleep at night, and then around 3:30 a.m. I will be wide awake in a snap. It doesn’t even feel like waking up, it’s like just opening your eyes as though you never slept.
There are few good parts of insomnia, but catching this dawn was one of them. The sky looked as though it was dripping color. The maples already tinged with red buds were positively set aflame. Be still my heart!

During Part I of the North Wind Collection, I made a handful of larger February Forest Necklaces. What made them special is that each necklace had a twin, another necklace that was set with a stone cut from the same rough, like the two sides of the same coin.
I thought this was a sweet notion, knowing that your chosen necklace had a twin somewhere out there in the world, perhaps soaking up the California sun or maybe catching the wind while bicycling down a sweet, little street in Holland. (Both are places where these necklaces ended up!)
You all seemed to enjoy that as much as I, so I thought it would be nice to create a few more, but this time as sets. Like adult friendship necklaces to give to a beloved.
I used some of my smaller dendritic agates, simple and small enough to tuck under a sweater. As with the others, there is a rim around the stone which has been been textured to look like tree bark.
Icicle Necklaces
There will be 34 necklaces available.
Price: $145 per necklace
Comes suspended from an adjustable oxidized sterling silver chain,
which measures between 17 – 20″
The necklaces to match the Icicle Earrings from Part I of the North Wind Collection!
Each features a beautiful gemstone that to me looks like twigs and bits of detritus frozen just below the surface of a iced-over pond, captured by winter.
I have opened a window on the backs of each necklace to let light through and accentuate the feeling of ice.
And below the gemstone is a twist fringe; little sterling icicles, bright and swaying, caught by the cold and fixed mid-air.
Slices of winter to carry through the year.
I will be putting up more previews for this weekend’s release, so check back!
